Artist Statement
In the vast and intricate tapestry of the natural world, my photography seeks to uncover and celebrate the quiet elegance of nature's unspoken narratives. Through this lens, I immerse myself in the beauty of landscapes, the grace of wildlife, and the ever-changing play of light and shadow that defines our environment.
A profound respect for the natural world drives my work. Each photograph is a testament to the awe-inspiring landscapes that span from majestic mountains to serene valleys, capturing these places' essence with precision and reverence. I aim to portray the raw, unfiltered beauty of nature, inviting viewers to experience its grandeur and find solace in its simplicity.
Wildlife, too, plays a central role in my exploration. I am fascinated by the diverse expressions of life that populate our planet, and I strive to capture the intimate moments of interaction between animals and their habitats. I aim to highlight the intricate details of their existence and the delicate balance that sustains them, fostering a deeper appreciation for their role in our world.
In every image, I seek to create a space for contemplation and connection, encouraging viewers to pause and reflect on their relationship with nature. Through this visual journey, I hope to inspire a sense of wonder and a renewed commitment to preserving the natural beauty that surrounds us.
By framing the extraordinary within the ordinary, my photography aims to evoke a sense of harmony and balance, revealing the profound and often overlooked details that make our world truly remarkable.
Philosophy: "The Golden Rule"- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. No photograph is worth causing harm to wildlife or landscape.
Bio
I grew up on a small farm in rural Oklahoma. When the chores were done I loved being outside in nature camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing. This was where I felt most comfortable. I started taking pictures to share my outdoor experiences with friends and family. Like most, I started with an inexpensive point-and-shoot, a cell phone, and no understanding of photography.
In 2019, I started taking photography seriously, taking online classes, watching YouTube tutorials, and reading anything I could find on photography. Experimenting with different photography genres has helped me learn and apply different techniques along the way. My passion for wildlife and nature photography grew from my enjoyment of hunting and being outdoors. The knowledge and strategies used when hunting also apply to photographing wildlife. The benefit photography has over hunting is photographing wildlife can be enjoyed year-round and in places where hunting isn't allowed.
